OLD BENS CAGERS CLINCH CARLTON CUP 2009 |
Our Basketballers beat the strong and youthful Field Force Youth Club (comprising players from families of Police Dept. ) and clinched the brand new Carlton Cup 2009 and won the prize money of Rs. 50,000/= in the inaugural B Division Tournament organized jointly by the Carlton Basket Ball Club and ‘Tharunyata Hetak’ (A Future for Youth) in the Final–played at the Depot Police Court on Sunday 4th October, 2009. Full time score was 69 – 65 (Half time score 31 – 22).
The Tournament was jointly sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom and Solex Engineering.
Old Bens fielded a young team which included 02 college players due to unavailability of regular players and had to take part in the B Division in this tournament. They combined youth and experience and displayed superb team effort to remain unbeaten. The main scorers for Bens were the young college players Clinton Stallone, Udaya Perera who displayed fine skills and the Captain Lasantha Gunawardene. The fine performances of the college players earned them recognition in the Club circuit. |

Old Bens Basketball Club beat Old Sebastian's BC by 67 - 46 points in the semi finals Cartlon Cup 2009 played on 01.10.2009 at Police Park. The finals will be played on 04.10.2009 at same venue at 1700 hrs against Fieldforce BC. Please join & give us your support & encouragement. |

OBSC Launches it's website www.obsclk.com

Prior to commencement of the AGM, on Saturday 29th August 2009 the website www.obsclk.com was officially launched by the Vice Principal of St.Benedict's College Rev.Bro.Janaka Fonseka, newly designed magnetic encoded plastic Membership Cards were issued to the members present and computerised billing system was commissioned. A slide show of the events held during the past year was presented on the wide screen after the meeting. The elected President Kennedy Machado in his address appreciated the hard work put in by his predecessor Delly and the team and mentioned that he will continue whatever tasks planned by the previous committee and that he intends to implement a membership drive and has plans to conduct some unique programs to attract more members and their families to participate in club activities.

Automation and Issue of Magnetic Encoded Plastic Membership Cards & website launch
We are pleased to announce that in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee of the club the Managing Committee has decided to launch our website, computerize the management of club activities and issue plastic membership cards (with colour photo) to all members as it will be durable and handy for the member and will facilitate the implementation of the following. A processing cost of Rs.200/- will be payable at the time of collection of the card.

- Issue of new plastic membership cards with photo & the 50th Year Logo (50th Logo only for those who enrolled before the next AGM due in August 2009)
- Computerized billing
- Entry to the club by swiping the magnetic encoded card which will be compulsory for billing & also will record members’ attendance history. However guest entrance will be by entrance pass & ticket and signing in by the member.
- Proposed website www.obsclk.com is under construction & will be launched soon. Member Data can be updated on line on the web. Publicity on print media will be given.
- email account to any member who does not have an email address for quick, easy & low cost communication. This will enable us to update members with latest news and happenings at the club. Our e- mail address is <obsclk@obsclk.com>

To facilitate the above we kindly request the members to complete & return the update attached below (Member Data Update) as soon as possible. In order to expedite the processing of new plastic cards we have also made arrangements to take digital photos at the club premises & if you have not already submitted photos we kindly request you to make a visit to the club & meet the Manager during business hours at your earliest convenience.(within the next 2 weeks)
