The Old Bens Sports Club inaugurated in 1958 is an affiliated body of the Old Boys Union of St. Benedict’s College, Colombo 13, Sri Lanka, the Patron being the Provincial Visitor who is the Head of the Christian brothers education Missionary of the De La Salle Brothers & the Rev Bro. Director of St. Benedict’s College , being the Ex officio Director of the Club. The Club had been formed with the prime object of encouraging sportsmen leaving college to continue sports by taking part in all major club tournaments in Cricket, Soccer, Hockey, Basketball, Athletics, Table Tennis & Billiards. The objects of the club are as follows. |

- To encourage and promote recreational, sports & cultural activities among it’s members & to provide facilities for the attainment thereof
- To assist, support & develop sports activities of St. Benedict’s College, Colombo 13
- To foster a spirit of camaraderie & promote brotherly goodwill among it’s members without any distinction of community or creed.

The club has produced many national players in the past whose list is too numerous to be mentioned. However due to various constrains it was not possible to support all sports activities fully in the past. As such the college sportsmen who were of high standard joined other clubs in order to gain recognition to play in the National team. The present committee intends to change the scenario by supporting all the sports wings financially to attract college players to play for the club & regain it’s glorious past. Events such as the Colours Nite, was organized annually at the club house to felicitate the players who have represented the country by playing for the club & brought fame to college in the recent past. The main social event, the Valentines Ball is organized every year to raise funds for the development of all sports, infrastructure and other facilities at the club & the College. We invite all loyal Old Bens in Sri Lanka to obtain membership of the club and to participate in the sports, social & entertainment events organized by the club & patronize the club with their families. |

The vision for the Club which was formulated recently is to support college sportsmen & to provide facilities necessary to old boys to reach professional level & achieve international standard & to gradually transform the club to a “family club”. We are working very hard to achieve these objectives and have embarked on optimistic projects such as employing professional coaches, having a quality restaurant with a wide range of choices on food & beverages, computerization of billing & the database. We have already introduced a multi media projector, theme nights for entertainment .For indoor sports we have Billiards & Snooker and are planning to have our own Gym & a badminton court in addition to the other outdoor sports activities mentioned above.
Since refurbishing the premises we have restricted entrance to members & their guests only to maintain high standards. |

Business Hours
The club (restaurant & bar) will be open for business during the following hours.
On Saturdays, Sunday & Public Holidays 9 am to 2 pm.
( will be closed on days there are college matches)
On other days 5 pm to 10 pm. |

How to become a Member
Membership enrollment form should be duly completed & forwarded along with the payment of the appropriate fees denoted in the application form. It could be handed over or to a committee member or to The Club Manager, who will issue the temporary Receipt. |

Life Member – Only old boys of St.Benedict’s College, Colombo 13 are eligible to apply. Membership fees Rs.5000/- |
|
|
Ordinary Member – Only staff & employees of St.Benedict’s College, Colombo 13 are eligible to apply. Joining Fee Rs.2000/- plus Annual Subscription Rs.1000/- |

Associate Member – For Non- Benedictines who are approved by the Managing Committee. Joining Fee Rs.10000/- plus Annual Subscription Rs.2000/- (Acceptance of application and Renewal will be at the discretion of the management) |

Temporary Member - For Professional Sportsmen (Non Old Boys) Renewable Annually (Acceptance of application and Renewal will be at the discretion of the management) |

Entry to the club
- Members will have to produce the Membership Card
- Members can entertain guests by entrance tickets (available at the entrance counter) & should be signed by the Member.
- Shorts, & slippers will not be allowed
